About me
I grew up in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, where I learned to love nature and began to see the inherent connections between human and environmental health. I have a family history connected to confederate soldiers, farmers, and teachers from the southern United States. In an effort to understand my own racialized identity, I have spent time learning about my Scots-Irish, Welsh, British, and Spanish ancestry. I am informed through my lived experiences as a cisgender, white, and queer woman, and having lived in several regions of the U.S.; in urban cities and small towns in the United States and Central America. My experiences in these places, and in a diversity of communities, have influenced how I view the world and move through it. I currently live in Flagstaff, AZ, on unceded Diné, Hopi, Hualapai, Havasupai, and Paiute lands, where I play the roles of partner, friend, and river guide.
My experiences working in the for-profit and nonprofit industries has led me to care deeply about doing things differently; where people's dignity, liberation, and healing is centered and we speak truth to power while recognizing the impacts of systemic oppression, particularly settler colonialism, on the dominant culture in the United States. I have a background in conflict resolution, restorative justice, mediation, program management, and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion work. I am values-driven and work to bring reciprocity, accountability, equity, justice, gratitude, joy, love, and empathy to my work and relationships. In my free time, you can find me gardening with my chickens, trying to find a river to swim in, or cooking (hopefully for loved ones). I am fueled by deep belly laughs, unplugged adventures, cheese puffs, and (biodegradable) glitter.
